Sam Lucas is a Melbourne-based composer with over a decade of experience writing music for TV, film, and live orchestra.
Beginning on the saxophone and drums at eight years old, he played a lot of jazz. This resulted in spending much of his young life listening to copious amounts of Jamiroquai (and more Dave Matthews Band than he’d like to admit).
Upon graduating summa cum laude from Boston's Berklee College of Music, Sam drove out to Los Angeles with a pregnant wife, a beat-up car, and a dream. LA became home for the next seven years, during which he wrote music for the Emmy Award-winning Fargo (FX) and Ripley (Netflix), Alien: Earth (FX), Citadel (Amazon), and more than 60 episodes of Star Trek.
He has also recorded live orchestra extensively, running over 200 sessions at Warner Bros., Fox, and Sony in Los Angeles, Abbey Road and AIR Studios in London, and numerous other studios and orchestras around the world.
Sam has since returned to Melbourne, where he continues to write for screen and record with orchestras internationally.
